Acronyms

Acronyms:

HTTP: http stands for hyper text transfer protocol and  is the protocol to transfer or exchange hyper text.hyper text is structured text that uses logical links between nodes containing text.http is a request-response protocol in the client server computing network model.

SMTP: smtp stands for simple mail transfer protocol and is used to send and receive mail messages. smtp is a internet standard for electronic mail transmission across the internet protocol networks.user level client mail applications typically use smtp only for sending messages to a mail server for relaying.

RTP: rtp stands real time transfer protocol and carries the media streams like audio,and video.it is used in unison with rtcp which stands for real time control protocol and is used to monitor transmission statistics and quality of service,and also aids synchronization of multiple streams. rtp is one of the main foundations of voice over ip.

DNS: dns stands for domain name system and is a system of distributing domain names in a hierarchy for computer systems,services,or any resources connected to the internet or any other networks. it translates easily memorized domain names to the numerical ip address system needed to locate computer services and devices world wide.

TCP: tcp stands for transmission control protocol and is one of the central protocols of the internet protocol,tht is the ip system.tcp provides reliable,ordered,error checked delivery of stream of octets between programs running on computers connected to a local area network,internet of the public internet.

UDP: udp stands for user datagram protocol,and is one of the fundamental members of the internet protocol suite. udp is used by computers to send messages, in this case the messages are referred to as datagrams.they are sent to a host on an internet protocol network without prior communications to set up special transmission channels or data paths.

IP: ip stands for internet protocol and is the principal communications protocol in the internet protocol suite for relaying datagrams across network boundaries.the task of ip is to deliver packets from the source host to the destination host solely based on the ip address in the packet header.an ip's routing function enables internetworking and essentially  establishes the internet.

ICMP: icmp stands for internet control message protocol and is also one of the fundamental protocols of the internet protocol suite.networking devices like routers use icmp to send error messages.in some cases icmp can be used to relay query messages.icmp is different from transfer protocols such as tcp and udp in that it is not typically used to exchange data between systems nor is it used regularly by end user network applications.

DSL: dsl stands for digital subscriber line and it provides internet access by transmitting digital data over the wires of a local telephone network.dsl service is delivered together with wired telephone service on the same telephone line. this can happen because dsl uses higher frequency bands for data.

SONET: sonet stands for synchronous optical networking. sonet is used to transfer multiple digital bit streams over optical fiber using lasers or highly coherent light  from light emitting diodes.sonet was designed to transport circuit mode communications from a variety of different sources,but were mainly designed to support real time,uncompressed,circuit switched voice.

802.11:  this is a set of media access control and physical layer specification for implementing wireless area network computer communication.they are created and maintained by a committee.these standards provide the basis for wireless network products using the wifi brand.

 ETHERNET: Ethernet are computer networking technologies for local area networks.systems communicating over ethernet divide a stream of data into shorter pieces called frames. each frames contain sources and destination addresses and error checking data so that damaged data can be detected and retransmitted.
